Activity for Alzheimer’s
Activities for Men
A visitor asked: “Good morning, why are some of the activities labeled “for men?” As I viewed those selections I saw several items many women I know would enjoy. I would ask that you rethink this labeling. Thank you!”
Good question! We made the choice to add the category “Activities For Men” because it has always been more difficult to find activities that appeal to men. Finding activities that are appropriate for women is easy by comparison. So the category is not here to exclude women; Everything listed in this category is also available in other categories. We include this category to direct people’s attention to activities that we think men might find more appealing.
We are not being sexist here. But remember, most people who have dementia now were growing up in the 1950s and 1960s. Some in the 40s. Gender rolls were different then. Like Archie Bunker was fond of saying, “Goils were goils and men were men.” Their most vivid memories are of those times, especially if their dementia has Alzheimer’s disease as the cause. You can read more» about why this is the case.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
- Dear John and Holly, I’d like to work for you…seriously! I first heard about your business on the “Made in Chicago” segment on WBBM radio a few months back. I too, am interested in exactly the same thing you are, the quality of life for people with dementia. (…) Thank you though, so much for putting this site, and your products in one spot. And I am sooooo glad that Bernice has you! Janice
