GAMES FOR ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
Games are fun because they challenge us. Games should be challenging but not so difficult that they are frustrating. The best games for Alzheimer’s make players think, rely on their memory and knowledge, and create new memories. Add sensory stimulus, a strong social aspect, and some light exercise and you have a perfect game for people with dementia.
Our large selection of games have been chosen because they provide an appropriate challenge for people with memory or cognitive challenges without being too difficult. Fitness games improve strength, balance, and dexterity; also important for health and safety. Manipulation of game pieces help the hands and arms stay limber and strong. Brain fitness games improve memory functioning and are good for the whole brain.
Games for Alzheimer’s and dementia should be selected with certain standards in mind:
- Consider the stage of a progressive disease like Alzheimer’s, or the ability of the person or people in your care. We offer stage recommendations on product pages in the “More Information”tab under each product picture.
- Whenever possible, take the individuals’ interests into account, their interests now and earlier in life.
- Choose games that are stage-appropriate – they should not be too difficult or too simple
- Look for games that inspire interaction among the players. Opportunity to socialize is very important for the well-being of people with dementia.
See our games for sensory stimulation which aid brain functioning by strengthening brain connections. We also have reminiscence games that will animate conversation while they arouse fond memories. Some games inspire memories just because they are old.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
- The service was swift and your staff goes above and beyond. The Twiddle Pup has already brought my Mom comfort and companionship. It keeps her hands busy and she looks for it when it’s been put aside for whatever reason. I have told many of my friends and families that I’ve met through the journey with my Mom about the product and the other varieties that it comes it. I have nothing but good things to say about this purchase! Doris
